The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has ordered Meru Shuttle Limited to produce the driver and conductor of a matatu with registration number KBU 254G for questioning over allegations of harassing a woman and her child.
Authorities directed the company to present the crew members to Meru County offices at 9am today, following widespread public condemnation after video footage showed the driver and conductor forcing the woman and her minor companion off the vehicle while using profane language.
A passenger intervened to plead with the driver to consider the woman's child, but the driver reportedly refused, stating he did not want to know. The woman later requested a Sh50 refund, with the conductor initially resisting before relenting after passenger pressure.
The incident has sparked online calls for accountability, with critics condemning the treatment as unacceptable in public transport services.
