Gor Mahia's chances of advancing to the CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinals hinge on securing victory against Angolan side Petro De Luanda this Sunday at Nairobi's Kasarani Stadium. A win would propel the Kenyan champions into the top two of Group D, ensuring progression to the next stage.

The team's recent 4-0 defeat by Egyptian club Zamalek on Sunday night dropped them to the bottom of the group with six points from five matches. Zamalek now leads Group D with eight points, while Petro De Luanda occupies second place with seven points following a 2-0 win over Algeria's Na Hussein. Na Hussein also has seven points, occupying third position.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, with the tournament winner receiving 124.6 million Kenyan shillings and the runner-up 62.2 million shillings.
