The Kenya Accounting Standards and National Examination Body (KASNEB) has unveiled plans to revise its professional certification curriculum, incorporating emerging financial technologies and updated accounting standards effective 2019.
The updated syllabus will feature modules on digital assets, including cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and initial coin offerings, to equip professionals with skills relevant to evolving financial systems.
Revisions also include integrating the accounting standards mandated by the Kenya Accounting Standards Board, which became effective January 1, 2019, into training materials and assessments.
Examinations will adopt a more applied format, using case studies in governance, ethics, and international finance papers to enhance practical understanding.
KASNEB intends to collaborate with professional bodies such as the Law Society of Kenya, Fund Managers Association, and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya to ensure curriculum alignment with industry needs.
