Attorney Gloria Allred revealed on Sunday that a newly uncovered video tape allegedly depicts R. Kelly sexually abusing minors, adding to ongoing legal proceedings against the musician.
The tape was found by Gary and Sallie Dennis in a collection of VHS cassettes at their residence, according to Allred, who described the discovery as a critical development in cases involving multiple accusers. The couple initially encountered the footage while sorting through old sports recordings, with Sallie Dennis later expressing distress after watching the Lifetime documentary Surviving R. Kelly.
Allred stated the tape shows what appears to be R. Kelly engaging in sexual acts with children, though she declined to provide specific details. She urged individuals possessing similar materials to contact authorities, emphasizing the importance of accountability. Gary Dennis described the footage as containing explicit content where the singer appeared to direct the camera and control the narrative.
This is the third alleged video linking Kelly to abuse, following reports by attorney Michael Avenatti. The current criminal case spans accusations from 1998 to 2010, including claims of sexual encounters with minors and allegations of maintaining sex slaves, as detailed in a 2017 BuzzFeed investigation. Previous legal actions include 2002 charges over a 14-year-old girl and a 2008 acquittal on child pornography counts.
