Jubilee and ODM lawmakers have publicly criticized Deputy President William Ruto for allegedly attempting to pressure President Uhuru Kenyatta over the national anti-graft campaign, according to statements made during a Nairobi church service.
Legislators including Maina Kamanda, Simba Arati, and Joshua Kutuny urged Ruto to cease undermining government anti-corruption initiatives. Kamanda stated, "If they want to leave the government, let them do so quietly. Those who have looted public funds should stop issuing veiled threats that their communities are being targeted!"
Arati warned Ruto against using close allies to attack the president, saying, "We cannot accept this country to slide back to where it was." Kutuny echoed these concerns, calling on Ruto to stop "threatening, blackmailing, and intimidating justice institutions."
Other attendees at the event included MPs Mercy Gakuya, Anthony Oluoch, Paul Koinange, Maoka Maore, Robert Mbui, Gathoni Wamuchomba, and Ngunjiri Wambugu.
