Atete Benzinge, a standout motocross rider, was honored as the East African Motor Sports Club (EAMSC) lady rider of the year at the 2018 season's Prize Giving Ceremony held at Nairobi Polo Club.
The award celebrated her achievements in the 2018 Kenya National Motocross Championship's MX50 Class, where she competed in FIM Africa CAC regional events in Nairobi and Kampala, as well as the FIM AFRICA Motocross of African Nations Continental Championship in Zambia from August 17-19, 2018.
Benzinge received the Beaulah Schoeman Trophy for her tenacity and competitive spirit, which saw her outperform male riders across multiple events. Rolf Kihara, who secured both the National and FIM CAC MX2 Championship titles, was recognized as the most meritorious rider.
Other award recipients included Samuel Magwa for the most meritorious performance, Trey Garner of the MX50 Class for the Little Ripper Award, and Gisa Benzinge, who won the Pee Wee Class. Kit Garner claimed the MX65 Class National Championship, while Dylan Mutahi (MX85) and Kigen Kiplagat (MX125) also received honors.
Tim Jessop was named 2018 Enduro Expert class champion, and William Meyer won the Enduro Clubman Class. The Kenya Motor Sports Foundation also acknowledged category champions in Motocross, Enduro, and Rally Raid, with Shivam Vinayak securing his seventh Rally Raid motorcycle class victory.
The ceremony included the EAMSC Annual General Meeting, where Kennedy Chege Kihara was elected Club Chairman and Mutahi Wariithi as Vice Chairman. Awards were presented across multiple classes, including MX50, MX65, MX85, MX125, MX2, Enduro Expert, and Enduro Clubman.
