Abubakar Joho, known as Abu, is the elder brother of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho. He is recognized for his substantial wealth and contributed significantly to the construction of Musjid Ummu-Kulthum in Kizingo, Mombasa, where the Nikah ceremony took place.
The wedding attracted prominent figures including NASA leader Raila Odinga, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, Kilifi MP Amason Kingi, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, and politician Suleiman Shahbal.
A reception held on Saturday night at Nyali Golf Club featured performances by Ali Kiba, Willy Paul, Ommy Dimpoz, and Susumila. The event, described as a women-only gathering, allowed male artists to participate. Kulthum arrived in high-end vehicles branded with her name, though no journalists were permitted inside.
Unconfirmed reports suggested a second reception might have occurred at Joho's Vipingo residence. The couple, who dated for over two years, shared a private relationship before the ceremony.
