Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Secretary General Hussein Swaleh was among 157 passengers who died in the Ethiopian Airlines crash on March 11, 2019. The tragedy occurred shortly after the Boeing 737-800Max took off from Addis Ababa, en route to Nairobi with stops in Egypt.
Swaleh had been serving as match commissioner for the CAF Champions League clash between Ismaily and TP Mazembe at Egypt's Borg el Aram Stadium. His death was confirmed by FKF President, who stated all onboard perished in the disaster.
Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama expressed condolences on social media, calling for unity amid the grief.
