Kenya Airways CEO Sebastian Mikosz has categorically denied social media claims alleging he earns Sh8 million monthly, calling the allegations "groundless and unjustified." In a statement to media, he revealed his actual monthly salary is Sh2.7 million, subject to 29% income tax remitted to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
Mikosz also dismissed assertions that the national carrier employs 18 expatriates and foreign consultants costing Sh70 million monthly. He clarified that only 18 foreign staff, including KLM secondments, represent 0.6% of KQ's 3,000+ workforce. Five KLM managers, including two in senior roles, are seconded to the airline but remain KLM employees, with their salaries covered by the Dutch carrier.
The CEO emphasized that 86% of top management positions are held by Kenyans, with foreign staff focused on knowledge transfer in financial modeling and strategic projects. He defended his wife, Magda Mikosz, against claims she serves on Deloitte Kenya's board, stating she never worked for the firm and left after moving to Kenya.
Mikosz accused the Kenya Aviation Workers Union of spreading "fictitious" information to "fuel negative public opinion" and announced legal action against those spreading "defamatory statements." He urged courts to "objectively assess the facts."
