Bungoma County has awarded ten women groups Sh25,000 each for their timely repayment of loans under the Bungoma County Women Empowerment Fund (Bucowef). The selection criteria emphasized consistent loan repayment discipline, with officials highlighting the groups' commitment to financial responsibility.

During the 2019 International Women’s Day celebrations at Nalondo Stadium in Kabuchai sub-county, Roads, Infrastructure and Public Works Executive Collins Mukhongo noted that the county government had disbursed Sh24,850,000 in loans to women groups. He stated, "The county government recognizes the entrepreneurial efforts of the women groups and will continue to support them through affirmative funds."

Mukhongo also outlined plans to train women on tendering processes to enhance participation in public contracts. Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga announced her office would launch a bursary program to assist girls who had left school.
