The remains of Kenyan rapper Chris Kantai were interred at his parents' residence in Oloolua, Ngong, Kajiado County, following his death on February 27, 2019, at St Francis Community Hospital in Kasarani. He had been hospitalized after experiencing abdominal pain, which progressed to respiratory complications.
Kantai, who left Kenya in 1997 to join his mother in the United States, initially pursued a Nursing Degree before working at retail chains like JC Penny and Macy’s. He returned to Kenya in 2003 to focus on his music career, later collaborating with artists such as Khaligraph Jones on the 2016 track "Ting Badi Malo." His most recognized works include "Huu Ni Nani G," "Issues," and "Happy," a collaboration with STL.
The funeral service featured tributes from top Kenyan celebrities, highlighting his impact on the local music scene. Kantai is survived by a wife, a daughter, and twin sons from previous relationships.
