Thirty-two Kenyan nationals are among the 157 victims of the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8 crash near Addis Ababa on March 10, 2019, according to official reports.
Media reports indicate Kenya had the highest casualties from the disaster, which also claimed the lives of 18 Canadians, nine Ethiopians, seven French citizens, eight Americans, and seven British nationals, among others.
The flight, which departed Bole International Airport at 08:38 am local time, lost contact six minutes after takeoff while en route to Nairobi. Ethiopian Airlines confirmed 149 passengers and eight crew members were aboard, with survivors remaining unknown.
The crash occurred southeast of Addis Ababa, near Bishoftu, in a region that has seen multiple aviation incidents in recent years.
