Ethiopian Airlines confirmed 32 Kenyan citizens were among the 157 people killed when Flight 302 crashed shortly after takeoff from Addis Ababa on March 10, 2019. The airline reported 17 Ethiopian nationals and 31 individuals from other countries also died in the accident, which occurred 60 kilometers from the capital.
The Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft's crash remains under investigation. Ethiopian Airlines has not yet provided an official cause for the disaster, which happened just six minutes into the flight bound for Nairobi. This incident marks the second major crash involving the 737-8 MAX variant within five months, prompting global safety concerns.
President Uhuru Kenyatta expressed sorrow over the tragedy, stating in a social media post: 'My prayers go to all the families and associates of those on board.' The crash has drawn international attention to the aircraft model following similar incidents in 2018.
