ODM leader Raila Odinga has revealed plans for the burial of former Kibra MP Ken Okoth, who passed away on July 26, 2019, at the Nairobi Hospital after succumbing to late-diagnosed colorectal cancer.
During a press briefing on July 31, 2019, Raila stated that after the prayer service and public body viewing on August 3, 2019, at Got-Rateng' Secondary School in Kabondo-Kasipul, 'the body will be handed to the family for disposal.'
He added that the body will be handled 'in the same way as that of Kenneth Matiba,' who was cremated at a private function in line with his wishes.
Okoth's family is entangled in a tussle over whether to cremate or bury the body, with his wife advocating for cremation and his mother, Angelina, opposing the idea.
On July 31, 2019, a memorial service was held for Okoth at Starehe Boys Centre.
