Residents of Ihundu village in Naivasha East have accused the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) of inaction following a prolonged crisis involving a stray leopard that has mauled over 50 sheep and goats since 2019.
The predator has repeatedly entered homes, with recent attacks killing six sheep and injuring others over two consecutive days. Local authorities report the situation has escalated fears among residents, who describe the animal as a persistent threat to their livestock and safety.
Area Member of County Assembly Stanley Karanja criticized KWS for delayed responses to repeated complaints. Residents now demand compensation for losses and warn of worsening human-wildlife conflict if action is not taken promptly.
Village leaders emphasize the growing concern for children's safety as the leopard's presence continues to disrupt daily life in the community.
