On July 31, 2019, ODM leader Raila Odinga announced that the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth would be cremated at a private function in Nairobi, finally putting to rest the ongoing tussle over Okoth's final resting place.
Okoth's body will be transported to Kasipul Kabondo constituency in Homabay for a funeral service, as per Luo traditions.
According to Raila, a memorial service will be held at the Starehe Boys' Centre and School on Wednesday at 2pm, followed by a funeral service at the Moi Girls' High School in Nairobi on Thursday, August 1, at 11am.
Okoth's paternal family had wanted him to be buried next to his late father in Kochia, Homa Bay, but the cremation has been agreed upon.
