Tel Aviv-based tech giant Nvidia has entered the race to acquire Israeli semiconductor designer Mellanox, according to financial news outlet Calcalist. The company is reportedly offering 10% more than Intel Corp's $6 billion proposal, positioning itself as a stronger contender for the deal.

The competition centers on Mellanox's expertise in InfiniBand technology, a critical networking standard for high-performance computing systems. Analysts suggest Nvidia's bid may have better prospects for regulatory approval due to its distinct market position compared to Intel, which already holds significant shares in the sector.

Mellanox has declined to comment on speculation surrounding its potential sale. Intel has also not confirmed reports of its interest in the company. A Reuters report noted that Nvidia representatives were unavailable for comment outside regular U.S. business hours.

The proposed acquisition comes amid growing consolidation in the semiconductor industry, with major players seeking to strengthen their footholds in data center technologies. A 2017 photo of Nvidia's logo at Taipei's Computex exhibition highlights the company's long-standing presence in global tech markets.
