Fridah Makena, a student at Meru National Polytechnic, died by suicide in March 2019 after her boyfriend Kevoh allegedly cheated on her, according to reports from The Kenyan DAILY POST. Her family has denied claims that the romantic relationship contributed to her death, while close friends maintained the breakup was a key factor.

Messages shared by Makena with friends before her death revealed her emotional distress, including a WhatsApp message stating, "I think I can't. I have reached the end." She reportedly recorded a video before taking over 20 pills, according to accounts from those close to her.

While Makena's family disputed allegations of a romantic motive, friends emphasized her boyfriend's infidelity as a critical factor. No official investigation details have been released, and no criminal charges have been filed against Kevoh.
