Ethiopian Airlines confirmed the crash of flight ET302 during its scheduled Addis Ababa to Nairobi route near Bishoftu on Sunday.

The Boeing 737-800MAX aircraft, registered as ET-AVJ, departed Bole International Airport at 8:38 am local time and lost contact 6 minutes later while en route.

The carrier reported 149 passengers and 8 crew members were onboard the aircraft at the time of the incident.
