An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 bound for Nairobi crashed shortly after takeoff on March 10, 2019, killing all 157 people on board, according to initial reports.
The aircraft carried 149 passengers and eight crew members when it disappeared from radar six minutes into its flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed condemned the tragedy, stating through his official channels: "The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, expresses its deepest condolences to the families of those who lost loved ones in the Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 incident this morning."
Emergency response teams have been deployed to the crash site, though no survivors have been confirmed at this time.
