Detectives with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have detained two Nairobi police officers for allegedly stealing confiscated narcotics, marking a significant development in ongoing anti-crime operations.
The suspects, Cpl. Alloys Onyango and Constable Arbanus Mutunga, were captured on surveillance footage allegedly removing 25 kilograms of heroin from a local police station storage facility. The drugs had been seized from traffickers and were reportedly valued at millions of shillings.
Investigations reveal the officers allegedly collaborated with a known drug trafficker, Peter Odogo Okoth, to lure two other narcotics suspects—Alfric Odhiambo Otieno and Kenneth Sinzore—into a trap. The officers then ambushed the pair, seized the drugs, and disposed of the contraband.
DCI officials emphasized their commitment to accountability, stating, "No one will be spared in the war against crime." This arrest follows a separate operation where a Chief Inspector of Police and three accomplices were detained for allegedly impersonating immigration officers to solicit a Sh2 million bribe.
