DJ Johni Celeb and Nyambura exchanged vows in a private ceremony on March 8, 2019, marking the culmination of a 12-year relationship. The wedding, attended by close family and friends, remained largely unknown to the public until after the event.
The couple first connected through mutual friends over 12 years ago, but their relationship evolved after Johni returned to Kenya from New York in 2017. He revealed to Harusi Nuptials that they began dating in April 2018, following a decade spent living abroad.
"We have always known about each other from mutual friends for about 12 years. When I relocated back to Kenya from New York in 2017, that is when we finally met in person," Johni stated.
"Having lived in the states for about 10 years, I didn’t know a lot of people in Kenya so we became friends fast and all our friends would ask if we were dating but we didn’t officially start dating till April 2018," he added.
Nyambura recounted how their friends anticipated a proposal during a 22-day Europe trip in July 2018, but it did not occur until their six-month anniversary in October 2018. "He surprised me in front of our closest friends by proposing. We set a date immediately and here we are March 8th 2019 tying the knot," she said.
The couple’s union has drawn congratulations from fans, though Johni’s preference for privacy ensured the event remained low-key despite his public profile.
