At least several individuals were killed in a Boko Haram attack on a military site in Niger's Diffa region, according to local officials.

"There have been deaths, including police, and also some wounded, in this attack by Boko Haram," an official in Diffa, a region of Niger near the birthplace of the jihadist group in neighboring northeastern Nigeria, stated.

The assault, carried out by heavily armed militants in multiple vehicles, targeted a military installation near Gueskerou in the Diffa region, as per social media reports from residents.

A Diffa governorate official and a Gueskerou municipal source confirmed the incident but provided no further details.

The official stated, "We have not yet determined the exact number of casualties and are awaiting a military assessment."
