NSE Launches Gender Equality Initiative on International Women’s Day 2019

The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) participated in global observances of International Women’s Day 2019 by hosting a bell-ringing ceremony focused on advancing gender equality. The event, organized in collaboration with the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation, UN Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative, UN Global Compact, and UN Women, highlighted the role of gender equity in driving business growth and sustainable development.

NSE Chief Executive Geoffrey Odundo stated the exchange aims to lead efforts in achieving gender parity across Kenyan enterprises. 'We will work with market participants to ensure highest levels of gender equality are maintained in alignment with the Women Empowerment Principles,' he said.
