Turkana County Government has allocated Ksh 20 million for the upcoming 'Tobong'lore' cultural festival scheduled for March 25-27, 2019. The event, held in Lodwar Town, aims to promote cultural heritage as a driver for tourism, peace, and regional development.
Organizers anticipate 12,000 participants from Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Uganda. The festival's theme emphasizes cultural preservation as a catalyst for economic and social progress in northern Kenya and neighboring countries.
Turkana County CEC for tourism, Jennifer Nawoi, stated the event will highlight the distinct traditions of participating communities. The festival's name, 'Tobong'lore,' translates to 'welcome back home,' symbolizing cultural reconnection and regional solidarity.
