Safaricom has partnered with the Beyond Zero Marathon as Official Communications Partner, offering technical infrastructure and media support for the 2019 edition scheduled at Nyayo National Stadium on March 10.
The initiative, led by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, focuses on reducing maternal and child mortality rates. Safaricom's involvement aligns with its foundation's efforts to improve access to maternal health services nationwide.
Stephen Chege, Safaricom's Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, stated: "Our mission is to transform lives through impactful investments and partnerships that improve our communities. Access to quality maternal health remains a challenge in many regions, which is why we prioritize collaborations to ensure accessible care for all."
The event features multiple race categories including a 21km, 10km, 5km, and a 2km special race for pregnant women. Paralympic competitions for T11, T12, and T13 categories will also take place. Prominent figures including First Lady Kenyatta, Rachel Ruto, and Ida Odinga are among registered participants.
As a key resource mobilization activity, the marathon advances the Beyond Zero program's goal of highlighting maternal and infant health challenges in Kenya.
