Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka warned that Kenya's Big Four Agenda faces collapse without urgent anti-corruption measures, emphasizing the need for political leaders to uphold constitutional integrity standards.
Speaking at a Nairobi ceremony marking the first anniversary of the presidential handshake in 2019, Musyoka urged governors to model ethical governance. 'If we don't expunge this temptation of stealing, we are missing it,' he stated, warning that failure to combat graft would jeopardize national progress.
He praised President Uhuru Kenyatta's anti-corruption efforts but cautioned against politicizing the fight. 'The moment we think this is targeting an individual, we are losing it,' Musyoka said, stressing that corruption must be addressed as a systemic issue.
Allegations that the anti-graft campaign targets specific political figures, particularly those aligned with William Ruto's DP, were dismissed by Musyoka. He urged anti-graft agencies to broaden investigations beyond the dams scandal, noting that 2022 political tensions highlight the need for high-profile prosecutions of major corruption cases.
Musyoka specifically called on DCI George Kinoti and DPP Noordin Haji to maintain resolve, citing billions in public funds lost to systemic graft. 'We need to give him a big clap,' he said of the president's commitment to the cause.
