Kwale County Police Commander Tom Odero confirmed no casualties among officers but noted the escape of armed militants. "Our teams are actively tracking the suspects, who have been operating in the area for months," he stated. Sources indicated police had been monitoring three individuals linked to the site prior to the raid.
A teacher at Shamsia Mosque revealed knowledge of a suspect frequenting the religious institution. "I've known him for years; he visited the mosque yesterday in military attire," said Bofulo, citing direct observation. The operation uncovered cellphones, food supplies, and other logistical materials hidden in a thicket.
The raid occurred amid ongoing counterterrorism efforts in coastal regions, with authorities emphasizing the discovery of communications devices that could aid investigations. No official casualties were reported from the exchange, though the condition of the escaped militants remains unconfirmed.
