Ken Okoth, the late Kibra MP, will be cremated in a private ceremony in Nairobi, Kenya, according to his family.
Speaking to the press in a Nairobi hotel, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga said that Okoth's body will be taken to Kasipul Kabondo constituency on Saturday for burial.
Okoth, 41, died in a Nairobi hospital after battling cancer. He had returned home earlier this month and made a final public appearance at a music festival in Kibra.
His health took a turn for the worse on Friday and he was admitted to the ICU in a Nairobi hospital.
His family had earlier announced that Okoth had expressed his wish not to be put on life support.
There had been a dispute between Okoth's paternal and maternal families over where he should be buried, with both families wanting to lay him to rest.
Okoth's family has now announced that he will be cremated in a private ceremony in Nairobi.
According to Raila, Okoth's body will be taken to Kasipul Kabondo constituency on Saturday for burial.
Okoth's family will hold a private ceremony to bid their final farewell to him at Ratenga Secondary School at 4 am on Saturday.
"Ken will be laid to rest by his family, just like Kenneth Matiba," Raila said.
