National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga avoided confirming his 2022 presidential aspirations during a March 2019 interview with Kameme FM, emphasizing his 2018 commitment with President Uhuru Kenyatta to focus on Kenya's development rather than political rivalry.
Odinga stated, "I do not want to discuss anything to do with 2022 politics. I am yet to decide my position," during the conversation. He reiterated that the 2018 handshake agreement between him and Kenyatta centered on setting aside personal interests to advance national priorities.
The two leaders established the Building Bridges Initiative committee to gather public input for policy reforms. Odinga denied claims that their collaboration aimed to block other politicians, asserting, "We have no business barring anyone from contesting for whichever position. It is Kenyans who will decide whether you are the right person to lead them."
He also addressed his role as opposition leader, saying, "There is nothing to oppose now that even the ruling party is working for change." The remarks occurred amid speculation about 2022 election dynamics.
