Ethiopian Airlines conducted a flight from Addis Ababa to Stockholm-Oslo on International Women’s Day with an all-female crew, emphasizing women's roles across aviation operations.
The initiative featured women in cockpit, ground services, air traffic control, and in-flight management, reflecting their full participation in the industry. The flight aimed to connect African women with European counterparts to demonstrate gender equality in aviation.
This marked the second time Ethiopian Airlines deployed an all-female crew for a special route. A similar flight in 2018 traveled from Addis Ababa to Buenos Aires, showcasing women's leadership in aviation.
CEO Tewolde GebreMariam stated, "We are immensely honoured that we have women trailblazers in every aspect of our aviation field. Women are an integral part of our success story from the start... Although women are Africa’s greatest resource, gender inequality still persists in our continent..."
The flight included women in airport operations, flight deck, load control, dispatch, onboard logistics, ramp operations, security, safety catering, and air traffic control, covering all critical aviation functions.
