José Mourinho has refuted claims of a potential return to Real Madrid, emphasizing he has not engaged in any discussions with the club despite fans chanting his name following a heavy defeat by Ajax.
The Spanish giants suffered a 4-1 loss to the Dutch side on Tuesday, prompting supporters to call for Mourinho's reinstatement. However, the Portuguese manager clarified there is no basis for the rumors, stating, 'Real Madrid have a coach.'
Mourinho, who previously led Real Madrid to one La Liga title, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, told El Chiringuito TV, 'I am proud when I hear my name in that context, but there has been no contact or discussions.' He added, 'Rumors in football are not reliable.'
The former Manchester United manager has been without a club since his December 2018 sacking. Real Madrid fans hope he could replicate his past success at the Santiago Bernabeu.
