Nandi Governor Joshua Sang is embroiled in a defamation lawsuit after accusing Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho of involvement in drug trafficking without evidence. The legal action, filed by Joho, could result in significant financial consequences for Sang if he loses the case.

Sang's legal team, led by attorney Shadrack Wambui, has stated that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Interpol have not provided the necessary information to support Sang's claims. 'We have written to Interpol and DCI seeking data, but we remain at a disadvantage without the required evidence,' Wambui said.

Sang, a close associate of Deputy President William Ruto, previously alleged that Joho was linked to a drug syndicate destabilizing communities across Kenya. The case highlights the risks of making unverified accusations against public officials.
