The hip hop group Ethic has been removed from the lineup of the upcoming Hype Fest, scheduled for April 27-28 at Ngong Racecourse, following an unspecified legal dispute, according to organizers.
Confirmed performers include rapper Khaligraph Jones, drummer Olive Karmen, and hitmakers The Kansoul and Naiboi. The group, known for their 2018 controversial hit 'Lamba Lolo,' has faced repeated public scrutiny.
Ethnic members Swat, Zilla, Rekles, and Seska were involved in a March 2019 incident in Umoja where a mob attacked one of their members following a 'misunderstanding.' Earlier in August 2018, the group had a public falling out with their management, which described them as 'difficult to handle.'
A Twitter thread from Mwakitele Kitawi, a representative, criticized the group's management challenges, highlighting ongoing tensions within the collective.
