The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has decided not to pursue self-proclaimed Prophet David Owuor in connection with allegations of defrauding Jayne Njagi Muthoni of property valued at billions of shillings, according to an official statement. Despite receiving a formal summons through his lawyer Kimani Watenga to appear for questioning between March 7-8, 2019, the DCI has not initiated further action.
Investigating officers confirmed that Jayne Njagi Muthoni had not yet provided a formal statement about the alleged fraud, which involves property transactions dating back to 2012. Two household staff members who worked for the victim had previously filed statements at Kabete Police Station, but no official complaint from Jayne herself has been recorded.
The decision has sparked speculation about potential challenges in the investigation. Jayne's family had accused Owuor of exploiting his spiritual influence to obtain her assets, but no criminal charges have been filed. A DCI source indicated that the lack of a victim statement delayed formal proceedings, though the agency has not publicly addressed concerns about procedural delays.
