Kwale police conducted a raid on a residence in Ngombeni area on Friday, seizing a range of items linked to terrorism, including pangas, knives, cables, fertilizers, matchboxes, military trousers, and literature containing religious writings.
The operation uncovered black flags bearing white text resembling insignia used by ISIS, al-Shabaab, and Boko Haram, alongside materials for explosive production, according to anti-terror officials.
Kwale police commander Tom Odero stated the site appeared to function as a training ground for extremist activities, citing translated passages in recovered books that read "tuko tayari kwa vita"—"we are ready for war" in Swahili.
No individuals were present during the raid, though investigators noted signs of recent occupancy, suggesting occupants had fled moments before the operation.
