Tanzanian singer Nandy expressed deep sorrow over the passing of media executive Ruge Mutahaba in March 2019, describing him as a transformative figure in her life and career.

Photographs circulated showing Nandy spending the night near Mutahaba's gravesite, accompanied by social media posts honoring the Clouds FM leader. She emphasized their close relationship, stating, "Ruge was my closest friend, everything to me. Ruge understood my dream. Ruge gave me the heart to fight even if I grew up wanting to give up."

"Ruge saw my dreams and did not worry about me achieving it," she said. "Everyone has a man who is created by GOD for them. And how an encounter with someone may be long enough to have bumps on the road, sometimes, it can deter you, but at the end of the day, everything works out."

Nandy highlighted Mutahaba's role as a mentor, adding, "They will be there to give you positive feedback and carry you on your journey wholeheartedly." She praised his impact, saying, "Tanzanian love you because you have touched their life in various ways. You were born a leader. You had a giving heart."

Concluding her tribute, Nandy vowed to continue their shared goals, declaring, "I will work hard to achieve the goals we’ve planned together. I love you so much and I will continue to love you even if you are not with us. YOUR THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPEN TO ME. MY SPIRIT…R.I.P."
