Philips Kenya has partnered with the Beyond Zero initiative to introduce the Philips Lumify Pregnancy 2km Walk, aiming to advance maternal and infant health in Kenya.
The event, held in Nairobi on March 10, 2019, will involve 350 women in their first or second trimesters. It complements the Beyond Zero campaign’s goal to eliminate preventable maternal and infant deaths through accessible healthcare solutions.
Participants will receive ultrasound screenings using Philips’ Lumify portable device, which enables real-time imaging of fetuses via smartphone. This technology, first deployed in Africa during the Beyond Zero Medical Safari in September 2018, provides critical prenatal care to women lacking hospital access.

Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta and Philips representatives will join the walk, alongside Kenya Red Cross staff managing safety stations along the route. The initiative highlights the urgent need for expanded prenatal care access, as preventable deaths persist due to limited diagnostic tools across Africa.
