Sidian Bank, a Kenyan financial institution majority-owned by Centum, has secured KSh1.2 billion in capital infusion from the Danish Investment Fund for Developing Countries (IFU) to advance its classification to a second-tier bank.

Centum holds 77% equity in Sidian Bank. During the funding announcement, Centum CEO Dr. James Mworia stated, "We are pleased with IFU's decision to invest in the bank. This represents a significant vote of confidence in Sidian Bank's strategic direction by a global institutional investor with extensive financial services portfolios."

The capital injection will strengthen the bank's regulatory capital adequacy ratio while expanding its credit portfolio for small and medium enterprises. IFU's investment aligns with its renewed focus on financing institutions prioritizing SME development, marking the first such allocation under this strategy.

IFU, which channels investments into over 100 developing economies, emphasized its commitment to financial sector growth through targeted capital support. The Sidian Bank transaction represents the organization's initial deployment under its updated SME-centric investment framework.
