Two female housekeepers linked to Jayne Muthoni provided statements at Kabete Police Station in 2019 as investigators probed allegations of coercive influence and substance use, according to a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) official.
DCI detective Francis Wanjau confirmed the housekeepers were questioned to assess claims Muthoni may have been subjected to brainwashing. "The house girls would be able to know if Muthoni was taking some drugs since they have been living with her," Wanjau stated.
The two women were accompanied by church administrator Lily Macharia, who had previously given a statement at the station on Wednesday. Media were prohibited from interacting with the housekeepers during their interviews.
Wanjau denied reports that Prophet David Owour would appear at the station, stating, "Prophet Owour is not like a mukorino from Kwangware we cannot just summon him anyhow." The detective explained that a letter had been sent to Owour through his lawyer, offering him a choice of dates between Thursday and Friday to appear for questioning.
Muthoni's family accused Owour of illegally acquiring properties from their sister. Wanjau added that Muthoni herself had not yet provided a statement, as she was undergoing medical evaluation to determine her mental state. "The doctors should look into her state of mind and tell us if she is of sound mind. She might record a statement and later say she was not in her right state of mind," he said.
Muthoni's sister, Alyce Macharia, claimed their relative was hospitalized for tests to identify any substances used to impair her memory and will. The facility was not disclosed. Wanjau also questioned the media's knowledge of Owour's potential appearance, asking, "Did you hear it from fake social media?"
