Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has expressed confidence in the abilities of French midfielder Paul Pogba, stating that he will prove his quality and advance his skills if he stays at Old Trafford this summer.
Rooney's comments come as Pogba has been linked with a move away from United after the end of the 2018/19 Premier League season, with Real Madrid and Juventus reportedly interested in signing the 26-year-old.
Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Rooney believes that Pogba will remain an asset for the Red Devils if he chooses to stay.
Rooney, who won two trophies with Pogba at United before he left, told ESPN, 'It's obviously down to the club, to the board, to the manager, but I think also to the player. If the player wants to stay, he'll stay and prove what a good player he is.'
Rooney's comments suggest that he is confident in Pogba's abilities and believes that he will continue to thrive at Manchester United if given the opportunity.
