Deputy President William Ruto has reaffirmed his backing for Kenya's anti-corruption campaign, stating that its success depends on non-selective enforcement and institutional independence. Speaking at the Sixth Annual Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga County, he urged citizens to report alleged misconduct to designated agencies rather than relying on informal channels.

Ruto highlighted the constitutional mandate of investigative bodies such as the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP), and Judiciary. He emphasized these institutions must operate without external interference to fulfill their roles effectively.

The remarks came amid ongoing scrutiny of high-profile infrastructure projects, including the Arror and Kimwarer dams. Ruto referenced his involvement in the Jubilee government's 'Big Four Agenda,' which prioritized water infrastructure development. The Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Henry Rotich, is under investigation by DCI detectives for authorizing Sh20 billion in advance payments for the Elgeyo Marakwet County projects.

Investigators are also examining the Kerio Valley Development Authority, which oversees the dam construction. Ruto's comments underscored the administration's focus on transparency in public works, even as allegations of mismanagement persist.
