Kenya's 2019 Special Olympics Team Launches Ahead of Abu Dhabi Games, Aims to Match 2015 Success

Kenya's 72-member team for the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games was officially launched by Sports Principal Peter Kaberia on March 7, with the delegation set to depart for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the following day.

The athletes completed two weeks of training at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, with a 2016 photograph capturing their preparation. The team will compete in athletics, cycling, swimming, basketball, and volleyball from March 14-21.

Key athletes include 2015 half-marathon and 10,000m gold medalist Onesmus Munyao, along with Irene Ngina, Shalel Lennah, and Sammy Kamande. Kenya previously won 42 medals, including 22 gold, at the 2015 Special Olympics in Los Angeles.
