Estonian ride-hailing firm Taxify officially rebranded as Bolt, unveiling a new logo and expanding its transportation offerings beyond traditional taxi services.
The company, which launched five years ago with a focus on urban mobility, emphasized its evolution from a taxi dispatch platform to a multi-modal transportation network. Bolt now encompasses ride-hailing, scooter sharing, and plans to integrate public transit options.
Users will not need to download a new app, as existing Taxify applications will automatically update to reflect the rebrand. The change aligns with the company's vision for electric mobility, according to CEO Markus Villig.
"We are bullish that the future is fully electric and so we wanted a name that moved us away from the combustion engine," Villig stated in an interview. The rebrand also signals Bolt's intent to diversify beyond car-based rides, including motorbikes and scooters.
The company reported 25 million global users leveraging its platform for urban transportation. Bolt aims to solidify its position as a leading mobility solution in Europe and Africa through this strategic repositioning.
