Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) has pledged KShs 40 million to sponsor the 2019 Magical Kenya Open Golf Championship, establishing itself as the official alcoholic beverages partner for the event. The deal includes a three-year agreement with Kenya Open Golf Limited, the tournament's organizers.
KBL Managing Director Jane Karuku highlighted the strategic alignment between the company and the championship, stating, "The Kenya Open is a perfect fit for Johnnie Walker, as it offers us a platform to connect with premium consumers." She emphasized the company's commitment to supporting sports in Kenya through the sponsorship.
Through its Johnnie Walker brand, KBL aims to enhance the experience for fans and players, promising "world-class entertainment" at the tournament. Karuku also praised the Kenya Open Golf Limited for achieving European Tour status, noting the event's 50-year legacy of maintaining global standards.
Kenya Open Golf Limited Finance Director Joe Wangai welcomed KBL's partnership, stating it would contribute to the tournament's success. He outlined plans to improve fan access, including a dedicated village area, and encouraged Kenyans to attend the event from March 14-17 at Karen Country Club. The championship will feature 144 golfers, including 12 Kenyan professionals and over 100 European Tour players.
