Actress Joyce Maina continues to process the loss of her father, whose decomposing body was discovered in a river in Embu in 2018 after he went missing four months earlier. Authorities believe his vehicle was swept into the water during flash floods that year.

Maina described the emotional struggle of grief as a fluctuating force, comparing it to waves that vary in intensity. 'It’s more like a wave that doesn’t carry you very far. Other times it’s a big wave that carries you very far... you have to swim so far to get to the shore,' she said in a statement.

She encouraged those experiencing similar losses to embrace the process without rushing. 'Only you can understand what you’re going through,' she emphasized, urging others to 'swim to the shore' rather than let sorrow overwhelm them.

The late businessman, who operated horticultural export ventures across Embu and Kirinyaga, had leased farms for crop production. A 2018 image linked in the original report shows his business operations.
