Olaseni Odukoya, co-founder of Etyres, has launched affordabletyres.ng to address longstanding issues in Nigeria's automotive parts market. The e-commerce platform aims to eliminate fraud by providing a transparent digital marketplace for tyres, batteries, and car accessories.
The site targets a sector dominated by unregulated offline dealers who have been accused of overcharging customers and selling substandard products. Affordabletyres.ng offers a three-step purchasing process for premium brands like Michelin, Bridgestone, and Goodyear, allowing users to select products by vehicle type, size, and budget before receiving deliveries to their homes or fitting centers.
Odukoya emphasized the platform's role in improving road safety by promoting authentic automotive products. "Many drivers lose money to inflated prices and expired tyres falsely labeled as new," he stated. The service partners with Lagos-based fitting centers for after-sales support and introduces financing options for budget-conscious buyers.
The platform also includes educational resources on tyre maintenance, including pressure management and tread depth measurement. It collaborates with multiple brands to expand its product range while prioritizing consumer protection in a market historically plagued by deceptive practices.
