On July 31, 2019, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha met with education stakeholders in Nairobi to discuss the implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum.
Magoha addressed concerns that poor infrastructure and lack of teacher training could derail the implementation of the new curriculum, stating that the Ministry of Education has put in place strategies to ensure that learning materials are available in schools.
He also challenged the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development to develop content for sex education in schools to address issues like early marriage and teenage pregnancies.
Magoha's assurance comes as the ministry moves to institute dialogue on the implementation of the new curriculum.
