Michael Kulundu, the acting managing director of Nzoia Sugar Company, succumbed to injuries sustained during an abduction in Bungoma on January 2, 2019, according to family members.

Kulundu's uncle, Lambert Manda, confirmed the death on March 7, 2019, stating the family had not received updates from authorities regarding the kidnapping. The incident occurred at Salmond Restaurant along the Kanduyi-Sikata highway, where Kulundu was taken by unknown individuals.

His body was discovered the following day in a trench near the Gulf Petrol Station, approximately 100 meters from the restaurant. Family members had spent the night searching for him before locating his remains.

Manda criticized the police response, noting they failed to trace the phone used to contact him during the abduction. 'There has been no official report from the police on their investigation,' he stated.
