Visa has unveiled a specialized program targeting female entrepreneurs to address fintech and social impact challenges, coinciding with the lead-up to the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019. The Visa Everywhere Initiative: Women’s Global Edition will award $100,000 to each of two competition winners, with finals scheduled for June 7 in Paris.

The initiative highlights a surge in women-led businesses, with 163 million women launching enterprises globally over the past five years, representing 37% of the workforce. Visa’s Chief Marketing and Communication Officer Lynne Biggar emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting women’s entrepreneurial growth through platforms like this initiative.

Eligible applicants must present solutions for fintech innovations or social impact projects. The Fintech Challenge focuses on transforming payment and commercial experiences, while the Social Impact Challenge prioritizes sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment. Applications are open until April 14, with regional finalists selected in May.

Previous participants have praised the program’s value. Amparo Nalvarte, CEO of Culqi, noted how Visa’s Developer Platform APIs enhanced her company’s product offerings, leading to new business opportunities. She expressed pride in being part of the women’s global campaign, anticipating the event’s impact on female entrepreneurs worldwide.

Details and submissions are available through Visa’s official initiative page.
